Friday – Celebration worship

On Friday mornings we will be having a Whole School Celebration Worship in the Hall where we would like to encourage the children to bring in their personal achievements from activities outside of School. These could include but are not limited to Swimming badges, rosettes, participation certificates, Brownie/Cub badges etc.

We can’t wait to hear about what the children have been up to!

Terrific Toys in Infants

Children in Year 1 and 2 are learning about how Toys have changed over the years. Children will be bringing home a little questionnaire to ask you about your favourite toys as a child. If possible, please share this with grandparents too. If anyone has a scanned photograph of their favourite childhood toy and a memory of playing with the toy, it would be well received to angelafarrington@hornby.lancs.sch.uk  Thank you

Lower Juniors

Lower Juniors have had homework folders sent home. They contain everything that the children need!

Each week, the children will be talking to their parents about possible ideas for their story. Your child can jot down some notes, but these are not needed. Each write will have a target e.g. Adverbs.

Each write will need a setting, characters, a problem the characters have to overcome and an ending.

Ladies in Pigs

On Monday afternoon we will have the Ladies in Pigs team joining us to teach us where food comes from and how farmers work to produce British high welfare food. During their visit, they will do a hands-on cookery session, meet the farmer Q & A and games and activities about British food and farming.

Parents Evening – Tuesday 5th March

Sheets will be going out in the entrance porch next week for you to choose a convenient time for your parents meeting where you will get the opportunity to see your child’s work and meet with their teacher for an update on their progress. We will be starting the meetings in the afternoon from 3pm so as to try and fit everyone in. Any problems, please let Hannah in the office know.

Bikeability

On 4th and 5th March, the Upper Juniors will be taking part in Bikeability. Bikeability is a cycle training programme which will help the children to gain the skills, knowledge and understanding to cycle safely on the roads and hopefully give them confidence for all kinds of cycling in the future.

Your child will need access to a bike and a helmet that they can bring to School for this training.

**I have sent home a letter and consent form with the Upper Juniors today, please complete and return to School on Monday**     Any problems, please let Hannah in the office know.
