Welcome back to a new year! We hope that you had a happy Christmas and holiday period. Thank you for all the gifts sent in to staff. They were much appreciated.

A slightly shorter newsletter this week with some dates for your diaries for this Spring term.

Staffing News

This week, we have welcomed our new Headteacher Mrs Nicole Davison, Nicole has joined us on secondment from Lancaster Christ Church and will be with us until the end of the Summer term.

We have also welcomed our new SENCO Erin Jones, Erin will be working at Hornby on a Monday.

Infants – next week

Please could all children in the Infants bring in a photograph of their house or email to angelafarrington@hornby.lancs.sch.uk as we are going to be using them as a starting point for Art and materials in Science.

Also, if anyone has some spare time and would like be a reading helper, we are looking for volunteers in an afternoon for Infants (any day)

Homework

All the children should be accessing TTRockstars, reading and practising spellings each week, in addition to this Mrs Cottam’s Maths and English groups will be bringing homework home every Friday to be completed and returned the following Tuesday. Thank you for your support with this.

Monday – Dance After School Club

These will be on a Monday with the first session on 8^th January 3.30pm – 4.30pm.

If you would like your child to attend, please let Hannah know.

PE Days this term

Ideally, we would like your child to have a PE kit in School AT ALL TIMES, but just in case it comes home for a wash, these are the PE days for this term.

Infants – Wednesdays and Fridays – Indoor and outdoor PE kit      

   (Weather dependant as to whether we go outside)

Juniors – Mondays – Dance – Indoor PE kit including indoor footwear e.g. pumps/clean trainers.

                             Thursdays – AM – Indoor and Outdoor PE kit required

PM – Swimming – Year groups 3, 4 and 5.

Edinburgh Residential

Instalment 1 is set up on School Money and can be paid anytime between now and 31^st January.

If you have any problems paying for the Residential, please come and chat to us at School.

PTA Disco

The PTA would like to invite all children to a disco in school on Thursday 11th Jan 5.00 – 6.30pm.

Tickets will cost £2.50 per child which includes a ¼ pizza and unlimited squash. There will also be a tuck shop if children would like to buy some extra treats.

If your child would like to attend, please send £2.50 cash in a named envelope to Hannah in the School office with details of any dietary requirements we should be aware of. Thankyou!

**We would request that parents of infant children stay with their children but parents of junior children may drop them off and collect them at the end**
