10th November
Christmas
We have begun to practise for our Christmas Performance on Tuesday 12th December. Letters about costumes will follow next week. We already have lots in school. Some children might have words to learn and they will bring them home next week.
Remembrance Sunday
On Sunday, there will be an act of Remembrance outside Hornby St. Margaret’s Church at the War Memorial followed by a Remembrance Service in Church. The Act of Remembrance will start at 10.45am and our very own Ronnie in Year 3 will be taking an active role and laying a cross. All are very welcome.
Don’t forget we have Poppies and other items for sale at School, we will be giving the children the opportunity to buy items at break times. Please support this very worthy cause.
Wildlife Oasis Trip – Tuesday
We have organised a last-minute Junior trip to Wildlife Oasis on Tuesday next week!
We are hoping to link our trip into our Science topic where we are looking at Living things and their habitat and our Geography topic where we are looking at South America and the different animals that live there. The cost of this trip will be £10 per child, this will be added to your School money account. Please see the Trip info sheet for more details.
PTA Meeting – Thursday at The George and Dragon in Wray from 7.30pm.
The Hornby PTA works to support the school, not only by raising money, but by encouraging a collaborative and fun relationship between staff, parents, governors, the Hornby community and, of course, the children themselves.
- The aim is to involve as many people as possible, and in a fun way. One of our main purposes is to raise funds for equipment, purchase “extras” that the school budget doesn’t stretch to, pay for travel to events and trips out as well as enhancing the children’s enjoyment and experience of the school such as by funding the January Disco, ice lollies for Sports Day and organising the Summer Fair.
- Everyone is a member of the PTA already, just by having a child at the school – it’s not a special club – and the committee welcome your involvement. We can always use fresh input, ideas and suggestions. You may not have spare time but you may work somewhere that could support a raffle prize, or utilise a staff discount, or just have knowledge of how we can do something differently.
If you can spare an hour on Tuesday, please come along to our meeting, We love any type of help you can offer!
Jimmy the Hedgehog
On Wednesday we found a very underweight and poorly looking hedgehog on our School playing field, Mrs Burns took him to Bay Vets where they named him Jimmy! Jimmy is doing really well and enjoyed the cat food they gave him, he is now at Wolfwood Rescue centre, where he will spend the winter being looked after and then released in the New Year.
Give an Hour
Huge thanks to everyone that made an effort to come and tidy up the School area, we are very grateful to you for giving up your free time and the School areas look so much better! We will hold another session in the New Year.
School Money Accounts
Please can you check your School Money balance as we have some rather large ones! Please can we ask that you regularly check and pay your account balance so as not to end up with a huge bill.
