School news

Infants have had a great time at Hornby St. Margaret’s Church getting to know Rev. Lucie and learning about features of the church. They also had a visit from our local PCSOs and got to sit in a Police car!

The Year 2’s completed their KS1 SATS Quizzes this week where they all worked very hard and tried their best.

The Juniors have had a trip to Morecambe on Tuesday where they enjoyed looking at all the different buildings, watching a lifeboat launch and eating an ice cream on the Prom. On Thursday we had Rev. Lucie come into School to talk to them about Pilgrimage and their important journey through life.

We have also had a team of Juniors go to Tatham Primary School for a Cross-Country competition. They all tried really hard and we had some fabulous placings. Well done everyone 😊

Exciting news

Mrs Baxter our Lower Junior teacher is pleased to announce she is expecting a baby. She will take some time out from October onwards. I am sure you will join us all in celebrating this wonderful news. Congratulations Mrs Baxter!

Malham Residential – Parents Meeting

Before we go on our Malham Residential, we thought we had better let you know what we will be doing while we are there! We will be holding a Parents meeting at 5pm on Monday 22nd May in the School hall, to give you information about our trip and give you an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.

Garden Gang

Over the past few weeks, the Thursday sessions of Garden Gang have back in full swing and we’ve been thrilled with the children’s enthusiasm and hard work.  We have planted onions, potatoes and sunflowers.  Built a greenhouse to start off peas, sweetcorn and more sunflowers.  Scattered wildflower seed in the daffodil circle and much more!

Special thanks to Jack AF and William Norris for their enthusiasm with compositing cut grass and general ‘digging’!  Ruby, Natalia, Lily, Oli and Livia for their wildflower work!  And finally, to Richard, Ronny, Daniel, Peter, James and Joshua for helping fill our new raised beds with our homemade mulch and compost – showing great team work and barrow driving skills throughout!

Garden Gang request – We be very appreciative if someone could spare a bale of straw to help keep our weeds at by over the summer.

Infant Recorder Club

Mrs Ford will be starting a Recorder club after half term for the Infant children, this will run on a Friday lunchtime at 12.30pm. We only have 5 spaces available for this club, so please let Hannah in the office know ASAP if your child would like a space.

PTA

Our PTA needs you!   ALL parents, guardians and friends of school are invited to join us in the Royal Oak on Tuesday 23rd of May at 7:30 to discuss two main points (and have a few beers too!)

  1. We have money in the bank and want to spend it on your children(please come and have your say), ideas so far range from outdoor education classrooms, to wet-play toys, to discos!
  2. The Summer Fayre & Dog Show!  We are looking to offer a similar fayre to last year, with some tweaks and additions!  But we can’t put together without some helpful hands for support.  The smallest amount of help really does make a huge difference!

The draft minutes from our last meeting have been added to this email, to give you a feel for what we’ve been considering.  We hope to see some of you there.
