Junior North America Day
We had our guest speaker Andrea Towse who lived in Colorado for a year coming to talk to us about the American way of life and places she had visited such as Alaska, California, the Rocky Mountains and Washington DC. The children enjoyed tasting all the different foods. Have a look on our Facebook page for photos of the day.
Kendal Mountain Festival
Earlier today we took four of the Upper Juniors to Kendal Leisure Centre for the morning to see the Mountain Festival. They saw adventure films, guest speakers and an action-packed BMX demo by Andrei Burton, the current British Elite Trials Champion who has broken 8 Guinness World Records! Hopefully we will be allocated more tickets next year and we can take some more children.
Juniors – PE Monday
Please can all juniors bring outdoor PE kit for the next weeks as we will be outside.
Junior TT Rockstars Competition
We are taking part in an inter school TT Rockstars Lune Valley Schools competition next week. It starts on Monday 21st November and ends at 5pm on Friday 25th November. It counts the amount of correct answers per pupil in any of the games and whoever has the most, wins. The children can only take part between 8.30am and 5pm so they are not up all night! GOOD LUCK TEAM HORNBY!!
Mufti Day – Friday
On Friday 25th November, children are invited to wear their own clothes to school in return for a donation of a raffle prize. It could be a box of chocolates or biscuits, a bottle of something alcoholic, or something smaller such as a Christmas pudding which could go into one of our fabulous hampers. Please leave your donations in the school entrance on Friday morning or give to Hannah in the office.
Reception photos
We have been informed that the School’s photo will feature in this week’s Lancaster Guardian paper.
Copies of the Lancaster Guardian First Class souvenir edition came on sale in local retail outlets yesterday.
Junior Malham Residential
Please return the letter slip and pay the £20 deposit on School Money by 30th November, so we can confirm numbers with the Youth Hostel. We really hope you can come, but if this trip raises any issues for you that may prevent your child from taking part, please come and talk to us in school.
Christmas Performance
We had our first practise at the Church on Wednesday which went really well, we can’t wait to show you our performance on Tuesday 6th December.
Robin Hood pantomime 14th December
Don’t forget to pay £5 for the pantomime trip to Hannah in the office by the 30th November, payment can be made by cash or cheque (made payable to Hornby Church of England Primary school). This payment will not be set up on School money.

Email reminders have been sent out this week from School Money for those owing more than £30. If you are struggling to pay, please come and speak to us.

Thank you to everyone who prepared a shoe box for the Romania charity. The volunteers who picked them up this week were really pleased with the response.
