School News

Hello! I am back in the office and have spent the week catching up, I have now set up a payment option on Schoolmoney for the coach contribution towards the Junior visit to the stone circles at Castlerigg and Long Meg last week. Thank you for your contributions so far towards the cost of the coach.

Parent Praise Assembly – all are welcome in the school hall at 3pm TODAY

 

PTA Family Race Night – TONIGHT Doors open at 6pm, first race at 7pm. Cash ONLY – Please bring lots of change.

 

School Readers – As a school, we are committed to helping children develop their reading skills and frequent practise really helps with this. Are there any parents who would be willing to help in school with hearing children read? Please let us know… we would really appreciate your time and help with this. 

 

Harvest Appeal

As a follow on from our harvest learning last week we are supporting the King’s Food Bank which provides emergency food support to people in Kendal and its nearby districts in South Lakeland. As a school we would like to collect items to donate over the next week in school. If you are able to donate and haven’t yet done so then please choose an item from the list and send it into school next week. Many thanks for your support.

Examples of items to donate, Instant pasta, Instant noodles, Instant mash, UHT semi-skimmed milk, Large tins of vegetables (eg. carrots, sweetcorn) Sponge puddings, Custard, Crisps.

 

Infant PE kits

Please can you ensure that PE kits are available in school on Mondays and Fridays. We will aim to go outdoors for PE as the weather allows, jogging bottoms can be worn at this time of year as the weather gets colder.

 

 

Parents Meetings

Teaching staff will be available from 3:45pm – 6:45pm on Tuesday 11th October for parents to come and look at children’s work and talk informally with teachers in school. There are time sheets on the table in the foyer for you to choose your preferred time.

Kitchen Vacancy on Fixed term position

We are looking for a Unit Catering supervisor to run the kitchen at Hornby Primary School until July 2023

The role will include responsibilities of stock control and ordering, food preparation, cooking. Health and Safety. The ideal candidate will have food production experience of mass catering for in excess of 40 children per day.

The children will be having their nasal flu sprays at school on Thursday 20th October. Please ensure that you have completed the online consent form for both consent / no consent giving reasons.
