Class News.
Infants
Reception children have been reading “The Selfish Crocodile” this week and acting out the story with puppets they have made, thinking about how the characters might feel. They have used modelling skills to create playdough crocodiles. They have been counting back and subtracting.
Children in Years 1 and 2 have been writing a recount of Horrid Henry’s school trip which was very eventful with one or two shocking moments! They have been exploring properties of shapes and money in maths this week. We have also been collaging and weaving to make Father’s Day cards.

Juniors
Lower – Year 3/4
This week we have made magnetic games in Science, we have carried over our Forces topic for a few weeks. The children had some fantastic ideas and we all had fun playing them. Livia, Daisy and William’s game went down particularly well and we even had some children from Upper Juniors come and play. In English, we have started looking at our new book ‘Tar Beach’ and have discussed what we think the book is about and what we can tell about the story from the front cover. The children have made inferences and predictions about the story. In Maths, we have looked at turns, clockwise and anti-clockwise and quarter and half turns, moving onto right angles. We enjoyed seeing what Evie had been up to in Disney and also Peter’s pictures of the Royal Armoury in Leeds! Lots of lovely experiences to share.
Upper – Year 5/6
In computing the children have been busy making puzzle booklets to take on the train to Edinburgh. Excitement is growing in the classroom for their trip on Wednesday.
Our new literacy topic ‘stories from other cultures’ has allowed the children to join in with lots of interesting discussions this week. We focused on children living in other countries and what a day in their life was like. It allowed for them to generate questions and really think about the similarities and differences.
Mean, median, mode and range has been our maths focus this week. Using various data, the children were all confident at completing various tasks. Using these numbers (1, 2,1,2, 3, 7, 15, 18, 6, 3) see if your child can remember how to work out the mean, median, mode and range.
