Covid-19. We have ten positive cases currently in school. We continue to appreciate parents support with testing if children have symptoms of any sort.
Class News.
Year 5 and 6 have had a busy week including the rugby tournament that some of them attended. They did very well and we are proud of them all. In literacy we enjoyed looking at the work of William Wordsworth and exploring his poetry, focusing on daffodils this week. In art the children have painted watercolours of the daffodils, including three dimensions. In maths we have been persevering with long multiplication and division work. They children have been working on ‘knowing myself’ and our positive qualities in PSHE.
Year 5 Star of the week: Jack – for excellent contribution and effort at the rugby tournament.
Year 6 Star of the week: Roxy – for her wonderful daffodil watercolour in art.
Year 3 and 4 We concluded our ‘Light’ topic for Science this week. We solved the crime and learnt lots about light in the process! Earth and Space next. The children really engaged with the topic and rose to the challenge of investigators. The children are very knowledgeable and asked lots of good questions throughout. Some good problem-solving skills have been used this week in Maths and English has involved some planning of our own scenes. Lots of super ideas and fun being had by the children. Thank you to the children who are at home and working hard too! I can’t believe we are almost at half term. Have a good weekend all!
Year 3 Star of the week: Daniel – for working well in a group for Science and for all his quality contributions during our ‘Light’ topic.
Year 4 Star of the week: Evie – for all her enthusiasm towards our Paddington theme, acting out stories at breaktime and including others.
Infants went to Borwick Hall for a day of fun-filled outdoor activities on Tuesday. We had a brilliant day doing a variety of activities which included sailing, hiking, indoor caving, the ropes course and problem-solving challenges. It was super to see all the children having a try at new activities.
We have had a creative week, constructing Sukkah shelters in RE – as we have been learning about the Jewish celebration of Sukkot and continuing to make our abstract Picasso style portraits.
Infant Star of the week: Ronnie – Showing confidence, independence and resilience during our trip to Borwick.
Certificate: Eric – For having a really enthusiastic attitude to all of his learning.
School Starters Reception Class Photo. Reception children are bringing home a lovely proof of the photo they had taken for the local newspaper. Order details are included, please return to school next week if you wish to place an order.
Young Voices – Mrs Trotman has been practising the songs with the junior children. Parents can set up a MyClassmate account using the link below:

Junior Sports Kit. Do we have any parents whose company would like to sponsor a new sports kit for junior pupils to wear at matches? Please let Mrs Sharpe or Miss Yost know if you think you can help.
Individual and Family Photos – the photographer will be in school on Monday. We are aiming to get back on track and have individual and family photos in the autumn term and whole school in the summer term.
