3rd September 2021
Welcome back to school – we hope everyone has had a good summer. Thank you for all the lovely gifts we received at the end of last term, we are still enjoying the biscuits and chocolates!
New Faces! The new reception children have spent the morning with us today; we welcome Jonathan, Joseph, Grace, Sophie and Mark. We are sure they will all be very happy here at Hornby St Margaret’s School.
Also joining us is Lucy Raby, the new Cook. She comes highly recommended from Nether Kellett School, where she was covering for maternity leave.
Covid19. With the change in regulations we will continue to monitor Covid19 in school. We know from the recent research that children with Covid19 display a range of symptoms, such as fever, headache and sore throat. Please keep your child at home if they are unwell and consider a PCR test if appropriate.
Junior PE – year 3 & 4 pupils will be starting football sessions with Morecambe FC on Monday 6th September, so will need appropriate PE kit. Year 5 & 6 pupils will also need full PE kit including outdoor trainers as we will aim to be outside as much as possible. We would like juniors to keep their full PE kit in school all week please.
Junior Swimming – year 3, 4 & 5 pupils will start swimming on Thursday 9th September at Hornby Pool. Pupils will need to wear trunks/costumes – no shorts or bikinis. Long hair should be tied back or they need to wear a swimming hat (both boys and girls), which they can put on themselves, please practise at home. All jewellery, including earrings, must be removed and the pupils need to be able to do this themselves. Attached to the email today is a goggle permission form from the pool, please print and complete if your child wishes to wear them. Year 6 pupils will remain in school with Mrs Shaw.
School Dinners have increased slightly in price to £2.35 per junior child per day, they continue to be fully funded for all infant pupils. They are excellent value and we are always happy for children to try the meals and can be flexible about the days children have them.
Early Morning Club continues to be available from 8:20am every morning at a cost of £2 per session for the first child of each family, with siblings attending the same session being charged £1.50 each. The club is available to all children in the school.
Praise Assembly is returning, we will invite parents into school on the last Friday of every month to hear what has been happening. The first assembly will be Friday 24th September at 3pm.
