13th September

We had an enjoyable, if rather wet and muddy day, at the Westmorland Show yesterday!  Included in the bag today is a copy of the School Term and Holiday Pattern for the current academic year, please note that May Day has moved to Friday 8th May to commemorate VE Day.

Forms, Forms. There is yet another form to complete!  Please have a read of the Permission for Photographs form included in the bag today and complete as appropriate.  Thank you to everyone who has completed all the forms included in last week’s bag.  Please could we appeal for the outstanding forms to be returned in the bag on Monday.  It is important that we always have the most up-to-date information regarding all the children.

Annual Flu Vaccination (nasal spray).  Another thank you to all parents who have returned the completed Flu form, again please send in any outstanding forms on Monday.  The school nurse is popping into school to pick them up early next week.

Health Needs Questionnaire.  There is a letter from the School Nurses in the reception children’s Friday bag, please have a read and return the form to school completed.

Swimming Lessons start next Thursday 19th September for all pupils in years 3, 4 & 5.  We will be swimming at Hornby Pool again this year, pupils will need to wear trunks/costumes – no shorts or bikinis.  Long hair should be either tied back or they need to wear a swimming hat (both boys and girls).  Goggles can only be worn if the letter included in the Friday bag today is signed and returned to school.  All jewellery, including earrings, must be removed and the pupils need to be able to do this themselves.

Year 3 Parent Drop In.  Mrs Cook is holding a Year 3 Parents Drop In next Friday 20th September at 9:00 to 9:30am for parents to ask questions regarding children joining the juniors.

Junior Sewing Club.  Mrs Rosie has kindly offered to run a Sewing Club on Tuesdays after school. The club will initially run for pupils in years 5 & 6 and will finish at 4:30pm.  Please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter if your child would like to take part.

Library Help. Mrs Rosie also volunteers in the school library on a Thursday afternoon, it would be good if another parent would offer to help with this.  Pop into the school office or put a note in the Friday bag if you feel you can help.

Macmillan Coffee Morning.  The coffee morning is on! Thank-you to everyone who has offered to help. Extra help would still be appreciated, let us know on Facebook or sign up on the roster in the front entrance if you can. Any donations of raffle prizes or cakes (baked or bought) on the day would be very much appreciated. If you can’t help but can still pop in for a cuppa, it would be good to see you. Friday 27th 10.00 – 11.30am.
