2nd November

We hope everyone had a lovely half term holiday and is ready for the busy lead up to Christmas in school.  We have tried to include as many of the important dates as possible in this newsletter to help you plan!

Topic Information.  Topic information sheets for this half-term are included in the Friday bag for all infant children.  Juniors are focusing on World War One and War poets, material changes and sound in science and volcanoes in art.  Parents can always view the curriculum plans on the school website as well.

The Royal British Legion.  We are supporting the Poppy Appeal again this year, children can bring in 20p for a poppy or 50p for reflectors, pencil sharpeners, pencils, rulers or rubbers.

Boxes of Hope. The boxes will be collected next week, so if anyone wants to do a last minute box it just needs to be dropped off at school by Monday 5th November.

Fitness Fun ClubJill Eccleston will be running a Fitness Fun Club after school on Mondays starting next week Monday 5th November.  The club is open to all children in school and will be free of charge.  It will run from 3:30 to 5pm every week.  Jill is a British Athletics and British Cycling accredited coach who aims to coach skills through a variety of fun games and activities.  The club will be held outside whenever possible, so children will need well-fitting trainers, tracksuit bottoms, t-shirt and outer top layer.  Please complete the form at the end of the newsletter if your child would like to take part.  The club will continue after Christmas should the pupils doing Sewing Club wish to join then.

Upper Junior Netball Competition.  Five upper junior pupils will represent school at a cluster competition at Caton on Wednesday 7th November.  A detailed information sheet is included in the bag for the pupils involved.

Year 5 & 6 Residential.  Thank you to all the parents who have returned the slip and deposit for the Edinburgh Trip in July.  A copy of the original letter from Mr Stafford-Roberts is included in the bag today for any families still to reply.  We really need to know next week if your child/ren will be going, so we can confirm numbers with the Youth Hostel.

Infant Class R.E.  Mrs Barker would like any children who have been Christened to bring

items that remind them of this celebration into school please, examples being candle, certificate or photographs.

Ukulele Lessons.  Mrs Barker will run the sessions through November, the last one being on Tuesday 27th November.

Drop Off/Pick Up.  Please could we remind everyone that children should not be dropped off or picked up from the staff car park.  All pupils should come into school via the gate by the infant classroom.

PTA Race Night. To help PTA plan for this event we would appreciate it if you would return the slip at the end of the newsletter to let us know if you are coming to this event.  Please return slips on Monday!
