6th July

The next two weeks in school are incredibly busy and it is likely that this will be the final newsletter this term, so there is lots of read!  We will aim to keep you updated by text message should any information change.

The junior children all had a wonderful few days in Arnside!  Infants also enjoyed their day at Leighton Moss and learnt lots from the very knowledgeable staff there.

PTA Family Bingo Night – Tonight at 6:30pm

Everyone welcome. £1 per book of ten games, full books with six entries per game £6 or any amount in between depending on the age and ability of the children. (It will make sense when you get there I promise, if not grab me on the playground beforehand!) There will be small prizes for a line and larger prizes for a house in each game – so twenty prizes up for grabs! Tea, coffee & squash will be provided at the interval, but if you would like to bring something stronger to consume you are more than welcome!  There will also be a small tuck shop selling a limited range of sweets, crisps etc. We look forward to seeing you there!

Michelle.

New Starter Visits

The new reception children are visiting school again on Monday and will be staying of lunch.

Sports Day

Let’s hope the good weather continues into next week, so that Sports Day can go ahead as planned on Tuesday 10th July at 1:15pm.  Everyone is welcome to come along and cheer the children on!  If your child has a t-shirt in the colour of their house please could they bring it to wear.  Castle is RED, Fountain is BLUE and Priory is YELLOW; there will of course be coloured bands available for anyone who needs one.  PTA have kindly agreed again to give all the pupils an ice-cream at the end, any remaining will be sold to parents at £1.

Year 6 Leavers Do – Tuesday 10th July

Junior staff will be at Carnforth Swimming Pool at 6:50pm on Tuesday to meet all the year 6 pupils.  They have the whole pool to themselves for an hour and will have take-away pizza once they are all out of the pool. They will probably need something to eat before they come, as pizza will not be until about 7.15pm, please collect your children by 7.45pm.

Reception Vision Screening

Lancashire Vision Screening Service will be in school on Wednesday 11th July to check the vision of the reception children.  Thank you to all the parents for returning the forms so promptly.

Tower Wood Visits

We are continuing our Tower Wood Adventures next week.  Infant will be going on Thursday 12th July and Juniors on Friday 13th July; pupils will require a packed lunch on the day they are going and will not be back at school until about 5:30pm.  Children should wear appropriate clothing for the weather, please read the kit list attached to the information sheet included in the bag today.

Junior Swimming Gala

On Monday 16th July, all junior children will be taking part in a Swimming Gala with Leck juniors at Ingleton Outdoor Pool.  The Gala will start shortly after 1pm and parents are invited to come along and cheer them on! An information sheet is included in the Friday bag today; they will all obviously need their swimming kit on the day.

No Assembly

As the juniors are all out at Tower Wood next Friday, there will not be an assembly.

End of Year Service

We would love all parents, grandparents and friends to join us for our End of Year Service on Thursday 19th July at 9am; where we will be celebrating another wonderful year in school and saying Goodbye to the year 6 pupils.

Goodbyes

We wish all our year 6 pupils well as they move on to the next stage of their education.  Amelia and Poppy are going to LGGS, Katie, Charlotte, Maddy, Kacper, Lily, Patch, L-J and Olivia to QES.  We really hope you will all keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on.

Miss Race will also be leaving us at the end of term, we are sure you will all join us in wishing her well for the future.

Mrs Smithson, who has taught piano and recorder here for many years, is also leaving the area this summer.  We wish her and her family well in their new venture.

Dinner Bills

Please could we ask that parents make sure that they pay for the meals their children have had this year. To view your account and make payments please log onto www.eduspot.co.uk.  Paper bills are included in some bags today for parents who have expressed a wish to continue paying this way.  If other families would like to pay by cheque or cash please pop into the school office and we let you know how much you owe.

The cost of junior school meals will be increasing to £2.30 per day and £11.50 per week from September.  This still represents very good value for money and is the first increase for several years.

Dates for next half-term

School re-opens for pupils on Tuesday 4th September.

New reception children start on Friday 7th September.
