8th June

Isn’t this weather gorgeous!  The cricket team had another successful afternoon yesterday and came home with a trophy and medals.

Please do check the date list at the end of each newsletter, we have a very busy half term and new dates are continually being added.

Arnside Residential Parents’ Information Evening

Mr Stafford-Roberts is holding an information session for all parents of pupils going on the Arnside Residential Trip in July.  The meeting is being held in the school hall on Tuesday 12th June at 6pm, please try to attend.

Whole School Photograph – last call!

If you would like to order a copy of the school photo please complete and return the order form, sent out before half term, to school by Monday 11th June at the latest or follow the instructions to order online.  Thank you.

New Starters Visits

The new reception children starting with us in September will be visiting school for the first time on Friday 15th June in the morning.  Year 2 pupils will also move up to juniors on this morning to get a taste of life there.  Similar visits will also take place on Monday 2nd July and Monday 9th July. Mrs Hamlett will also be in school on these days.

Whole School Trip – Tuesday 19th June

Mrs Barker has organised to take all the children to visit both Blackburn Cathedral and a Sikh Temple in Preston on Tuesday 19th June. All pupils will need a packed lunch and drink on the day, a detailed information sheet will be included in next week’s newsletter. We have been advised by the Temple that everyone will need to have their heads covered and shoes removed at all times to show respect to the Holy Scriptures, we suggest that everyone brings a headscarf for this purpose.  Please complete the slip at the end of today’s newsletter to give permission for your child(ren) to go on this trip.  The cost of the trip will be £10 per pupil to cover cost of transport, workshops at the Cathedral and a donation to the Temple.

Bills, Bills

Please would all parents of junior children who have school lunches log onto www.eduspot.co.uk to view your account and make any outstanding payments.  We would appreciate if you could try to keep outstanding balances to less than 2 weeks.  Paper bills are included in some bags today, for parents who have expressed a wish to continue paying this way, if other families would prefer this too just let us know.  Please could any remaining recorder money be sent into school on the Monday, so that we can organise to pass payment to Suzi Smithson.  Reminders are in the bags concerned.

PTA SUMMER FAIR 16th June 11am-1pm

The PTA Summer Fair takes place on Saturday 16th June from 11am – 1pm. We are still a couple of people short for the stalls we would like to run so if you are able to help please let us know, it would be much appreciated. We will be setting up after school on Friday 15th, so your help with that would also be appreciated if you are free.

Donations of toys & books, raffle and tombola prizes can be dropped off in the school entrance hall from this Monday 11th June. Donations of cakes/biscuits should be brought on Friday 15th June or on the morning of the fair please.

The fair will be advertised in the village and on Facebook – please invite your friends and family to come along and have some fun and support us. If you are unable to attend the fair but would like to purchase some raffle tickets, or you would like to buy some for family or friends, Michelle will have some with her each day this week at drop off and pick up. Thanks in advance for your support.

Amazon Smile and Easy fundraising

Amazon Smile and Easy fundraising are schemes that allow the PTA to receive donations when its supporters shop online. The PTA received over £200 from Easy fundraising last year, so this is really worthwhile.

The PTA has just registered for Amazon Smile, which we think will work more reliably for shopping on Amazon than Easy fundraising does currently. Furthermore, Amazon are tripling the donation rate between the 15th and 29th June to 1.5%.  If you shop on Amazon, please browse to https://smile.amazon.co.uk/ch/1089431-0 to associate Hornby St Margarets PTA with your Amazon account.  Whenever you shop, you will need to start from https://smile.amazon.co.uk for the PTA to receive the donation.  For any other online shopping, please continue to use Easy fundraising as before.  Many thanks for your support!

PTA World Cup Sweepstake

To have a bit of fun and to raise some money for the PTA we are running a World Cup Sweepstake. £2 for a lucky dip team ticket with the chance to win £10 for the winning team and £5 for the runners up. See Andrea (Ellen’s mum) in the playground for your chance to win.   Limited tickets available so get them whilst you can!
