3rd November

We hope everyone had a lovely half term holiday and is ready for the busy lead up to Christmas in school.  We have tried to include as many of the important dates as possible to help you plan!  Please also read the PTA News that is included separately today on a green sheet.

The Royal British Legion.

We are supporting the Poppy Appeal again this year, children can bring in 20p for a poppy, 50p for a reflector or £1 for a wristband.

Boxes of Hope.

The boxes will be collected on Monday 6th November, so 9am on Monday is the latest they can be dropped off!

Swimming Lessons.

Junior swimming lessons restart on Wednesday 8th November and run until Wednesday 29th November, there won’t be any lessons in December.  Please help children in years 3, 4 and 5 remember their kit.

Art Club.

Miss Allen’s After School Art Club will run for the infants starting on Wednesday 8th November, if you still need to fill the slip in please pop into school and let us know.  The children need picking up promptly at 4:30pm from the main entrance at the front of school.

Year 5 Craft Tour.

Year 5 pupils are attending a Craft Tour at St Mary’s Church in Kirkby Lonsdale on Friday 10th November.  They need to be in Kirkby by 9am, two parents have kindly agreed to transport the group, so the children need to be in school by 8.30am, siblings can join early morning club if necessary at no charge.  We have arranged a bus to bring them back to school mid-morning.  An information sheet giving more details is enclosed in the bag today.

Flu Vaccines.

The NHS team will be visiting school on Tuesday 14th November in the morning to vaccinate the children in years1, 2, 3, 4 and reception against flu; only the children whose parents returned the form will receive the vaccine.

Junior Residential.

Thank you to all the parents who have returned the slip regarding the junior residential to Arnside. If you have not replied yet, please do so as soon as possible, so we can start to make the necessary arrangements. If this trip raises any issues for you, please come and talk to Mr Stafford-Roberts.

The cost is £3.50 per tea towel, cash or cheques payable to Hornby ST Margaret’s PTA please. Presents and Prosecco Night – Friday 17th November 7-9pm

Tickets are now on sale for this event! Ticket price of £2.00 includes a free glass of Prosecco (or non-alcoholic alternative) plus entry into the raffle, as well as entry to the event. Please see Michelle or Helen, or contact us through the Facebook page or school office if you would like tickets. We have fifteen stalls lined up selling a variety of lovely gifts, so please encourage your family and friends to come along and enjoy a social evening while making a start on your Christmas shopping. If you are unable to attend on the evening, you can still buy tickets for entry into the raffle, there are fifteen great prizes donated by our stall-holders available. (Please note this event is adults only.)

We would be very grateful for volunteers to help with this event, both setting up the hall after school on Friday afternoon, and helping out on the night. We would like to run a rota system like at the coffee morning, so that all helpers also get chance for a sit down and chat over a glass of something! There will be a sign-up sheet in the school entrance by Mrs. Sharpe’s office from Monday, or speak to Michelle or Helen if you are able to help. Many thanks.

Christmas Fair – Saturday 2nd December

Plans are coming together nicely for the Christmas Fair! As in previous years, we will be holding a non-uniform day to support this event. On Friday 17th November, children are invited to wear their own clothes to school in return for a donation of a raffle prize. It could be a box of chocolates or biscuits, a bottle of something alcoholic, or something smaller such as a Christmas pudding which could go into one of our fabulous hampers. Please leave your donations in the school entrance on the morning of Friday 17th November. If you or a family member or friend run a business which would like to donate a prize or voucher for the raffle, we would be very grateful and would ensure that all such prizes are credited to the donor. Please pass any such prizes to Michelle or Helen, many thanks. We will also be running the decorated jars competition nearer the time, so don’t forget to start saving those empty jars! (more info to follow later for new parents!) We would also be grateful for any donations of small (new) items suitable for the tombola or lucky dip eg unwanted gifts, party favours, sweet treats etc. which we will collect nearer the time. We will of course need volunteers to help set up the hall the day before and run the many stalls we have planned on the day, and would be very grateful for offers of help. There will be another planning meeting soon, so watch this space!

Easy Fundraising

The prize winner will be announced in the New Year once the figures have come through from Easy Fundraising.
