They have been helping the garden gang to plant wildflower seeds and potatoes. They have learnt about Ascension and painted pictures of what they think heaven will be like.

Years 1 and 2 – Have been researching dinosaur species, note taking and beginning to make dinosaur fact books. In maths we have been exploring equal groups and counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. Year 2 have been choosing the most efficient strategy for multiplication.

All infants have been exploring the four countries of the United Kingdom and have zoomed in on London. They have constructed some of the buildings and landmarks we might find in London and made a 3D map. They have thought carefully about the minibeast safari we had last week and have tried to describe the minibeasts to Obb the Alien who is visiting from outer space. They also found some lost luggage and worked as Historians to piece together the clues to who it might belong to!

Infant Star of the week Joey

For making a super T Rex Mask and doing some brilliant reading to match dinosaur facts with pictures

Certificate Grace

For super reading in morning challenge time

Juniors

Lower – Year 3/4

We had a great time at Tower Wood canoeing and tree climbing. The children really pushed and challenged themselves at both activities, improving their canoeing skills and working towards a qualification (which we hope to award at the end of the year). Tree climbing was great fun and provided some challenging moments, but the children powered on and some of them made it to the top of the tree! In class, we have been learning about the water cycle in Science and fractions and decimals in Maths.

Upper – Year 5/6

A really fun, busy week. Tower Wood was a brilliant and adventurous day on Monday. As always, we were really proud of the children. Year 5 and 6 kayaked on Lake Windermere all day to achieve their kayaking award. They all did amazingly well and as always, they enjoyed jumping into the lake at the end of the day. No photos unfortunately as our school phone broke in the morning ☹

In class, we have been learning about ratio in maths and we have been grammar superstars this week too. Science was our new topic of electricity.

Cluster Cross Country

We were really proud of Dominic, Daisy, Maisie, Joey, Ted, Daisy T, Adam and Scarlett who attended the annual cross-country event at Tatham Fells school. Yesterday some of the children chose the Chinese curry for lunch, they had a good try of it and gave their honest feedback and found it too spicy! So next time curry is on the menu, we will go back to the normal (milder) curry with the spring roll/vegetable samosa instead. Onto a new menu again next week and I am looking forward to hearing everyone’s feedback.

PTA Meeting

Next Thursday, 5th May at 7:30pm via Zoom.
