Inside the eggs were clues to tell us about what happened in the Easter story. We have also been searching outdoors for signs of Spring and New Life. We went on a colour hunt to find different colours displayed in nature. In PSHE, we read the story about &#8216;The Whale who Wanted More&#8217; and thought about the things that bring us true happiness. We have been adding glue to our Asian and African batik patterns as well as selecting paints in cool and warm colours to match the patterns. In Science, we have been testing out our ideas about how to repair the elves&#8217; umbrella.\u00a0 We made some cards using our handprints to send to children in Ukraine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We have continued to explore addition and subtraction in mathematics. Reception children have been looking at the composition of number 7 as well as creating symmetrical patterns on the elves&#8217; pizza and making a giant butterfly! In English, Years 1 and 2 have continued to write their alternative traditional tales. Reception children have been painting tricky words with tiny elf brushes, designing and writing about clothes elves might make and writing some &#8216;th&#8217; words.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Infant Star of the week &#8211; <\/strong><u>Eric<\/u> &#8211; Fantastic commitment to home reading\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Certificate<\/strong> &#8211; Grace &#8211; Super problem solving &#8211; making a boat to transport an elf across the\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0water tray<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Juniors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lower &#8211; Year 3\/4<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This week we have written some fantastic sentences in English, using our book, Leon and the Place Between as inspiration.\u00a0 The children have used words to paint wonderful pictures in our imaginations.\u00a0 Maths has been the first step into fractions, for some solving puzzles and others making a half.\u00a0 Please make sure that your child is regularly going on TT Rockstars at home as knowledge of times tables is really beneficial to the understanding of fractions.\u00a0 In Science, we have been investigating what happens to the particles when a solid melts into a liquid, lots of really interesting discussions and we enjoyed eating a piece of chocolate at the end too!\u00a0 Bonus!\u00a0 The Maya number system was the subject of our session in History.\u00a0 Do you know what this symbol represents?\u00a0 Ask your child to explain what it means.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I really enjoyed seeing parents on screen for our meetings this week, thank you to all who attended.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Upper \u2013 Year 5\/6<\/strong> \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This week in upper juniors we have been busy finishing our Magic Box poems in literacy. These can be paid in partial payments or as a whole by 30<sup>th<\/sup> April via Schoolmoney. We have now booked for the places that we will visit in Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day for Ukraine<\/strong> \u2013What a fantastic effort made by everyone on Monday it was great to see so much yellow and blue. We made cards for the children in Ukraine and talked about the crisis in our assembly. We raised an amazing \u00a3138.50 which we have paid to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n<p><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunflower seeds<\/strong> &#8211; We&#8217;ve had a very kind donation of sunflower seeds from Mr &amp; Mrs Ashton to be planted with Ukraine in mind. We are also looking for someone to join the PTA committee as Secretary. The role is not onerous and mainly involves taking minutes of meetings and helping with general admin.
