Year 5 were reading \u2018When the Mountains Roared\u2019 and completed some fantastic book reviews. Year 6 were reading \u2018The Light Jar\u2019 and also wrote some great book reviews.\u00a0 Next week they will start new texts, year 5 will read \u2018The Nowhere Emporium\u2019 and year 6 @Running on the Roof of the World\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>In maths the children have worked hard learning about thousandths this week.<\/p>\n<p>They had a fun science session where they worked in teams to label the organs of the human body and then looked in detail at the heart and how it works.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 6 Star of the week: Rose <\/strong>for fantastic team work in science.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 5 Star of the week: <\/strong><strong>Maisie <\/strong>for her amazing book review of her guided reading book.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Years 3 and 4<\/strong> This week we have enjoyed finding out more about the features of a non-chronological report and about different nutrients in our food.\u00a0 We have talked about having a balanced diet and what this means.\u00a0 In Maths, we have started to work on expanded multiplication and division and the children have risen to the challenge, trying out new skills and showing resilience and persevere when they were not always successful first time.\u00a0 Geography has allowed us to compare a physical and political map of Spain and England, looking at the different features and when we might need to use these different maps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 4 Star of the week: Ted <\/strong>for being enthusiastic about reading and reading every night at home.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 3 Star of the week: Daniel <\/strong>for being enthusiastic about reading and reading every night at home.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Infants<\/strong> have had a brilliant week in school. Lots of children are trying really hard with home reading and they are getting their reading sticker on a Friday.\u00a0 Well done!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We have been exploring our local area on our Houses and Buildings walk. We have followed a simple map and noticed features of the local area. Reception children have posted a letter which should arrive soon!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reception <\/strong>have been collecting information in maths. They did a little survey to find out the colour of everyone&#8217;s door and made a bar chart to show their results. They have been exploring the composition of 6 by making their own number blocks and partitioning Bob the Builder&#8217;s bricks. They have been pretending to be a post worker and giving each other directional clues to post the letters to the three pigs houses, trying to avoid the big, bad wolf.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Years 1 and 2<\/strong> have been continuing to explore traditional tales. We have improved a version of the Three Little Pigs, sequenced events and performed a playscript version.
