This has left question marks over the Y6 leavers bowling and meal evening planned for 12th July \u2013 we are awaiting confirmation, but it is likely to be cancelled.<\/p>\n<p>Sports day will now also change, as we operate in two bubbles. The infants and juniors will both take part, but separately. We have also made the decision to have this in school, without spectators. Whilst we know this will be disappointing, we would rather be extra cautious now to aid bringing the virus back under control.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Garden Gang<\/strong>.\u00a0 A group of infant parents have done an absolutely fantastic job of tidying up the Infant Play Area and the path at the front of school. They spent all Thursday morning, pulling up weeds, sweeping and generally tidying the whole area. They were rewarded with tea and biscuits, but we still feel we must say a <strong>BIG THANK YOU!\u00a0 <\/strong>Parents giving time to school to carry out jobs like this is greatly appreciated by everyone in school.\u00a0 There is a before and after photo on Facebook, which shows perfectly how hard they worked!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Photos.\u00a0 <\/strong>All the children have had their photograph taken today.\u00a0 They will be coming home with the proofs and details of how to order today.\u00a0 As we are getting fairly near the end of term, all orders need to be placed online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tempest-orders.co.uk\">www.tempest-orders.co.uk<\/a> by next <strong>Friday 25<sup>th<\/sup> June<\/strong> <strong>remembering to tick the back to school option for free delivery before the end of term<\/strong>.\u00a0 We also had a whole school photo taken and hope to be able to show you that next week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Non-Uniform Day.\u00a0 <\/strong>It\u2019s been a while since we have done any fundraising activities, so we thought it would be good to do something for the local community.\u00a0 Next <strong>Friday 25<sup>th<\/sup> June<\/strong> we will have a Non-Uniform Day, for this privilege children need to bring a donation for the local foodbank.\u00a0 Acceptable items are <strong>fruit juice, long life milk, sponge puddings, jam, peanut butter or honey, tinned fish, instant mash potato, wrapped biscuits, coffee, tea, pasta sauce, tinned meat, tinned vegetables or tinned fruit<\/strong>.\u00a0 Please only bring items off this list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reception<\/strong> have been exploring African animals and printing patterns to make snake skin this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Years 1 and 2<\/strong> have been exploring Australian animals, creating a wombat using textured collage materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Infant Star Award<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Livia<\/strong> \u2013 Creative ideas in writing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Infant Certificates<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Adam<\/strong> \u2013 Super neat hand writing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daisy <\/strong>\u2013 Picking out features of Traditional Tales.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ronnie <\/strong>\u2013 Being keen to write in morning challenge time.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lower Juniors<\/strong> have been writing a recount of their super trip to Warton Crag.\u00a0 The children all really enjoyed themselves and it was a gorgeous day.\u00a0 All the children got stuck into the plant and tree identification and considering they walked a total of around 8km the kids were all very positive and enthusiastic on the day.\u00a0 Maths has been looking at decimals and relating them to fractions for some and others have been counting in tenths.\u00a0 Well done everyone for your hard work this week.\u00a0 Next week, they will start their new Science topic; &#8216;Sound&#8217; and continue with our Europe topic in Geography and English.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 3 star of the week \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Henry <\/strong>\u2013 for being enthusiastic on our trip to Warton Crag.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 4 star of the week \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jack <\/strong>&#8211; for working hard in class and being a good role model on our trip to Warton Crag.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Upper Juniors<\/strong> have begun a new topic \u2018forces\u2019 this week in science.\u00a0 Lots of investigations are taking place and the children have been using \u2018force meters\u2019 and recording weight in Newtons.\u00a0 They all enjoyed the trip to Warton Crag and have written some interesting recounts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 5 star of the week<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Rose <\/strong>\u2013 for measuring and drawing angles using a protractor accurately.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 6 star of the week<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Ellen<\/strong> \u2013 for her recount of the Warton Trip.
