{"id":3222,"date":"2021-04-16T13:45:33","date_gmt":"2021-04-16T13:45:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/?p=3222"},"modified":"2021-04-16T13:45:36","modified_gmt":"2021-04-16T13:45:36","slug":"16th-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/index.php\/2021\/04\/16\/16th-april\/","title":{"rendered":"16th April"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Welcome back, for what we all hope will be an uninterrupted Summer Term!\u00a0 The children seem pleased to be here and ready to learn.\u00a0 We will continue with emailed weekly updates, unless there are items that need completing and returning to school.<\/p>\n<p>Please continue to wear masks on site and maintain social distancing.\u00a0 Lateral Flow Tests are available to everyone now and can be picked up from the Caton Road Park and Ride in Lancaster.<\/p>\n<p>We were all saddened to hear of the passing of His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh.\u00a0 Upper junior pupils researched his life and have produced a lovely display for the classroom, have a look for the Facebook post.\u00a0 The Royal website has opened an online Book of Condolence <a href=\"https:\/\/www.royal.uk\/?utm_source=12%20April%202021%20C19&amp;utm_medium=Daily%20Email%20C19&amp;utm_campaign=DfE%20C19\">https:\/\/www.royal.uk\/?utm_source=12%20April%202021%20C19&amp;utm_medium=Daily%20Email%20C19&amp;utm_campaign=DfE%20C19<\/a> for anyone who would like to send a message.<\/p>\n<p>Attached to the email today is a document showing what the children in each key stage will be covering this half term.\u00a0 There is a topic sheet for EYFS (reception), one for Key stage one (year 1 &amp; 2) and a Key stage 2 one for all juniors.<\/p>\n<p>Junior parents will also find attached a letter from Mrs Shaw regarding PSHE topics, please have a read and contact us if you have any concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Pemberton, a Lancashire Cricket Coach, will be in school next Tuesday afternoon 20<sup>th<\/sup> April.\u00a0 He will lead two sessions one with the infants and another with lower juniors, please ensure they have their PE kit in school.<\/p>\n<p>We have been contacted by Juliet Balme (nee Allen) to inform us of the recent passing of her father Mr John O Allen.\u00a0 He was Headteacher here from 1974 to 1977 and he visited for the 50<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary celebration in 2012.\u00a0 Juliet and her brother Troy also attended school here in the 1970\u2019s, some of our parents or grandparents may remember them and their father.<\/p>\n<p>Please can we remind parents to check their school money accounts and not let the balances for either school meals or early morning club build up.<\/p>\n<p>Day visits are now allowed, so we are hoping to have outdoor activity days this term for both infants and juniors.\u00a0 The dates are listed below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dates for this term: &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tuesday 20<sup>th<\/sup> April \u2013 Cricket Coaching<\/p>\n<p>Monday 3<sup>rd<\/sup> May \u2013 May Day Bank Holiday<\/p>\n<p>Monday 10<sup>th<\/sup> May \u2013 Upper Junior Climbing Day<\/p>\n<p>Thursday 13<sup>th<\/sup> May \u2013 Life Education Visit<\/p>\n<p>Monday 24<sup>th<\/sup> May \u2013 Junior Tower Wood Day<\/p>\n<p>Friday 28<sup>th<\/sup> May \u2013 Last Day this half term<\/p>\n<p>Monday 31<sup>st<\/sup> May \u2013 Back to school for next half term<\/p>\n<p>Thursday 1<sup>st<\/sup> July \u2013 Infant Borwick Hall Day<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 Welcome back, for what we all hope will be an uninterrupted Summer Term!\u00a0 The children seem pleased to be here and ready to learn.\u00a0 We will continue with emailed weekly updates, unless there are items that need completing and returning to school.
