{"id":2957,"date":"2020-03-06T15:17:58","date_gmt":"2020-03-06T15:17:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/?p=2957"},"modified":"2020-03-06T15:22:08","modified_gmt":"2020-03-06T15:22:08","slug":"6th-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/index.php\/2020\/03\/06\/6th-march\/","title":{"rendered":"6th March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>World Book Day on Thursday was fun with many children coming to school dressed as their favourite book character, we raised over \u00a330 for this year\u2019s school charity.\u00a0 All the children gathered in the hall for an assembly in the afternoon to talk about the meaning of World Book Day and then shared books with each other.<\/p>\n<p>World Book Day Tokens were enclosed in the Friday Bag last week. These can be used online against an order from Scholastic Book Club at <a href=\"http:\/\/schools.scholastic.co.uk\/hornby-st-margarets-ce-primarmar\">http:\/\/schools.scholastic.co.uk\/hornby-st-margarets-ce-primarmar<\/a> or orders can be returned to school by <strong><em>Monday 9<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 The Book Lounge, an independent book shop, in Kirkby Lonsdale is also accepting the WBD vouchers. They have a selection of the special \u00a31 WBD books which you can exchange your voucher for or they are happy to take the voucher in exchange for \u00a31 against the cost of a full price book.\u00a0 The shop kindly gave school a copy of each of the \u00a31 WBD books in exchange for some of our spare vouchers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parents Meetings &#8211;<\/strong> <strong>Monday 9<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If anyone still needs to book a time for parents meetings, please pop in on Monday morning and sign up or give us a ring and we will try and find you a convenient time.\u00a0 Teachers really value this opportunity to talk with parents.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bikeability \u2013 18<sup>th<\/sup> &amp; 19<sup>th<\/sup> March.\u00a0 <\/strong>All of our year 5 and 6 pupils will be undertaking Bikeability training on <strong><em>Wednesday 18<sup>th<\/sup> and Thursday 19<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 If you have not completed and returned the consent form yet you will find another copy in the Friday bag today; please do complete this one to enable your child to take part.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PTA NEWS.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 6 Leavers\u2019 Books<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For a number of years the PTA has funded a Leavers\u2019 Book for each Year 6 pupil containing photographic memories of their time in school. The parent who used to co-ordinate with Miss Yost to produce these no longer has a child at school so we are looking for a current Year 6 parent to take this on this year. Please let us know via the Friday bag if you are interested, or speak to Miss Yost if you would like more information about what is involved.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PTA Jumble Sale \u2013 Saturday 14<sup>th<\/sup> March 10am<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In your Friday bag this week you have a collection bag for Bags2schools if you have clothes to donate. If you have more than one bag\u2019s worth any other bag is also acceptable. If you do not have anything to donate, please return the bags so that they can be re-used. Books, toys and Bric-a-Brac are also welcome. Donations can be dropped off in the entrance hall from Monday. If you are free to help set up the jumble sale on Friday after school or at the sale on Saturday morning, please let us know via the Friday bags, a couple more pairs of hands would be much appreciated. Thanks to those who have already offered to help.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Family Race Night- Friday 20<sup>th<\/sup> March 6:30pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Enclosed in the Friday bag is the information and reply slips for Race Night. We are still looking for Race sponsors to help subsidise the cost of running the event, so if you or a friend or family member could help it would be much appreciated to help us maximise our profits. Please return ticket requests and horse sponsorship in this week\u2019s Friday bag. All ticket requests must be handed in by <strong><em>Monday 16<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/em><\/strong> at the latest as we need to know numbers for catering. Entrance is by pre-paid ticket only, no money will be taken at the door on the night. All horse sponsorship must be handed in by <strong><em>Wednesday 11<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/em><\/strong> at the latest, as we have to pass these onto the race organiser to go onto the Powerpoint and we need time to draw the names and prepare the information before we can pass it on.
