{"id":2948,"date":"2020-02-14T14:39:33","date_gmt":"2020-02-14T14:39:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/?p=2948"},"modified":"2020-02-14T14:39:33","modified_gmt":"2020-02-14T14:39:33","slug":"14th-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/index.php\/2020\/02\/14\/14th-february\/","title":{"rendered":"14th February"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Skye Nicholson is leaving us today and moving to a school near Pilling, we wish her well.<\/p>\n<p>Juniors have been Street Dancing this morning, with a dance teacher.\u00a0 There appeared to be some good movers as I walked through the hall!\u00a0 Thank you to Mrs Cook for organising.<\/p>\n<p>We hope everyone has a relaxing half-term and that Storm Dennis isn\u2019t too disruptive!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parent Help Morning. <\/strong>Thank you to the parents who came along to help Mr Stafford-Roberts last Saturday morning.\u00a0 They managed to get a few jobs done.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Assembly at Church.<\/strong>\u00a0 On <strong><em>Wednesday 26<sup>th<\/sup> February<\/em><\/strong> the whole school will be going to church for the <strong><em>10am<\/em><\/strong> Ash Wednesday Service.\u00a0 Parents, grandparents, friends and other relatives are very welcome to join us.\u00a0 An information sheet is enclosed in today\u2019s Friday bag.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Life Education<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong> <strong>Coram Life Education<\/strong>\u00a0will be visiting school once again on\u00a0<strong><em>Friday 28<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0February<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Parents are more than welcome to attend a specifically planned session between <strong><em>9:00am to 9.15am<\/em><\/strong> to hear more about the programme.<\/p>\n<p>There will be no parent assembly as the hall will be being used for the Life Education Tent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>World Book Day \u2013 5<sup>th<\/sup> March.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>We are inviting all the children and staff to come to school dressed as their favourite book character on <strong><em>Thursday 5<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/em><\/strong> to celebrate World Book Day; they can also bring the book containing the character to share with other pupils.\u00a0 Student council will be collecting <strong>\u00a31<\/strong> from each child to donate to this year\u2019s chosen charity.\u00a0 World Book Tokens will be included in the Friday bags after half- term.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bikeability \u2013 18<sup>th<\/sup> &amp; 19<sup>th<\/sup> March.\u00a0 <\/strong>All of our year 5 and 6 pupils will be undertaking Bikeability training on <strong><em>Wednesday 18<sup>th<\/sup> and Thursday 19<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Bikeability is a cycling proficiency course giving children the skills and confidence to cycle in today\u2019s traffic conditions.\u00a0 In this week\u2019s bag, parents of participating children will find a letter regarding the training, an \u2018M Check\u2019 to ensure your child\u2019s bike is roadworthy, plus a consent form which needs to be completed and returned ahead of the training.\u00a0 This course is fully funded by Lancashire County Council and bears no cost to parents.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Library Books.\u00a0 <\/strong>Mrs Rosie kindly comes into school on Thursdays to help the children change their library books.\u00a0 She mentioned this week that a lot of junior pupils are forgetting to bring their books back, please try and help them to remember; the books do belong to school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dates for this term:-<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday 17<sup>th<\/sup> Feb \u2013 Half Term Week<\/li>\n<li>Monday 24<sup>th<\/sup> Feb \u2013 Back to School after Half Term<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday 26<sup>th<\/sup> Feb \u2013 Ash Wednesday Service in\u00a0 Church 10am<\/li>\n<li>Friday 28<sup>th<\/sup> Feb \u2013 Life Education Tent<\/li>\n<li>Friday 28<sup>th<\/sup> Feb \u2013 No Parent Assembly<\/li>\n<li>Thursday 5<sup>th<\/sup> March \u2013 World Book Day<\/li>\n<li>Monday 9<sup>th<\/sup> March \u2013 Parents\u2019 Evening<\/li>\n<li>Saturday 14<sup>th<\/sup> March \u2013 PTA Jumble Sale<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday 18<sup>th<\/sup> March \u2013 Year 5 &amp; 6 Bikeability<\/li>\n<li>Thursday 19<sup>th<\/sup> March \u2013 Year 5&amp; 6 Bikeability<\/li>\n<li>Friday 20<sup>th<\/sup> March \u2013 PTA Race Night<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday 25<sup>th<\/sup> March \u2013 Cluster Tag Rugby<\/li>\n<li>Friday 27<sup>th<\/sup> March \u2013 School closes at 3:30pm for Easter Holiday<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday 14<sup>th<\/sup> April \u2013 School re-opens for Summer Term<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Skye Nicholson is leaving us today and moving to a school near Pilling, we wish her well.
