{"id":2946,"date":"2020-02-07T13:49:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-07T13:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/?p=2946"},"modified":"2020-02-07T13:49:00","modified_gmt":"2020-02-07T13:49:00","slug":"7th-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/index.php\/2020\/02\/07\/7th-february\/","title":{"rendered":"7th February"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have had a fairly busy week in school.\u00a0 Infants enjoyed a day outside at Leck on Monday, they spent time in the Yurt and also made a wormery.<\/p>\n<p>Years 5 and 6 went caving up at Ribblehead, everyone joined in and pupils enjoyed the day; some loved going through the squeezes!<\/p>\n<p>The football teams did amazingly well in the competitions at Arkholme. Both upper and lower juniors got through to the final, lowers won and uppers just lost out on penalties!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parent Help Morning. <\/strong>Parent help would be greatly appreciated at school <strong><em>tomorrow<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>8<sup>th<\/sup> February<\/em><\/strong>, with some tidying and general maintenance jobs.\u00a0 Most of the jobs are outside.\u00a0 We will need garden tools, spades and forks and if you have a power washer please bring that along too.\u00a0 We intend to start from <strong><em>9:30am<\/em><\/strong> onwards and be finished by <strong><em>12noon.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Well behaved, helpful children are welcome to come along too!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bills, Bills, Bills. <\/strong>Text messages have been sent out today to parents owing money for either Early Morning Club or Dinners or both.\u00a0 Please would you try to settle these in full next week, so we can start next half term without any outstanding balances.\u00a0 If this causes anyone a problem do come and talk to Mrs Sharpe and we will work something out.\u00a0 The balance for the Malham Residential is also due by the end of March please.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Upper Juniors.<\/strong>\u00a0 Mrs Cottam would like pupils in years 5 and 6 to bring a pack of Top Trumps into school on Monday.\u00a0 Don\u2019t go out and buy any; only send them if you already have some, we have a few packs in schools that we will use too.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Safer Internet Day.<\/strong>\u00a0 Next <strong><em>Tuesday 11<sup>th<\/sup> February<\/em><\/strong> is Safer Internet Day, the aim is to create both a safer and a better internet, where everyone is empowered to use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. \u00a0Pupils will be taking part in activities relating to this in class.\u00a0 Please could we also remind parents that there is a full range of information and advice in the parent section of our website.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Life Education<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong> <strong>Coram Life Education<\/strong>\u00a0will be visiting school once again on\u00a0<strong><em>Friday 28<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0February<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 There is a leaflet enclosed in this week\u2019s bag which gives a little oversight into what children gain out of the experience. Parents are more than welcome to attend a specifically planned session between 9:00am to 9.15am to hear more about the programme.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lancashire Adult Learning at Leck \u2013 Y6 SATs Sessions<\/strong>.
