{"id":2918,"date":"2019-11-29T14:44:49","date_gmt":"2019-11-29T14:44:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/?p=2918"},"modified":"2019-11-29T14:44:49","modified_gmt":"2019-11-29T14:44:49","slug":"29th-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/index.php\/2019\/11\/29\/29th-november\/","title":{"rendered":"29th November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Newsletter 29<sup>th<\/sup> November 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The infants really enjoyed their morning learning more about owls.\u00a0 They all had a hold of an owl.\u00a0 Photos of the morning are on the school Facebook page, so have a look!<\/p>\n<p>We are all starting to get very excited about Christmas, both infants and juniors are now practicing for their events.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advent Reflection Day.\u00a0 <\/strong>Four year 2 children will be joining pupils from other schools in the valley at Leck School on <strong><em>Wednesday 4<sup>th<\/sup> December<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 An information sheet giving further details is included in the Friday bag today for the pupils attending; please note that they will need a packed lunch on the day, to be dressed as for Forest School and to bring a glass jar with them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Young Voices.\u00a0 <\/strong><strong><em>Monday 2<sup>nd<\/sup> December<\/em><\/strong> really is the final day for parents to request tickets for the concert in January, the slip is at the end of the newsletter again today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pantomime at The Dukes.\u00a0 <\/strong>We are all going to watch Cinderella at the Dukes in Lancaster on <strong><em>Friday 20<sup>th<\/sup> December<\/em><\/strong> (Oh Yes We Are!).\u00a0 The total cost of the trip will be \u00a314 per child; the PTA have very kindly agreed to help fund this trip, so we are just asking parents for a contribution of \u00a35 per child.\u00a0 PTA are pleased to be able to offer this financial support, but do rely on parents supporting all their fundraising events to be able to continue with this. Further information regarding the trip times will follow nearer the date.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Infant Nativity.\u00a0 <\/strong>Parents, family, grandparents and friends are welcome to attend the performance at 6pm, we will not be issuing tickets this year.\u00a0 Children will need to be in school by <strong><em>5:40pm<\/em><\/strong> to get ready.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carol Service.\u00a0 <\/strong>All junior children have a slip with some lines to learn for the Carol Service in their Friday bag today.\u00a0 Year 6 children will be bringing home some more words next week as well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vision Screening.\u00a0 <\/strong>Reception children are invited to take part in the Vision Screening on <strong><em>Tuesday 7<sup>th<\/sup> January<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Information regarding this is included in their Friday bags; this is an \u2018opt-out\u2019 assessment and therefore you only need to return the slip if you <strong><em>do not<\/em><\/strong> want the eye test for your child.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PTA News.\u00a0 <\/strong>If you ordered tea towels at the beginning of the week they are included in your bag today.
