{"id":2841,"date":"2019-10-04T13:36:36","date_gmt":"2019-10-04T13:36:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/?p=2841"},"modified":"2019-10-04T13:36:36","modified_gmt":"2019-10-04T13:36:36","slug":"4th-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/index.php\/2019\/10\/04\/4th-october\/","title":{"rendered":"4th October"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The PTA did a fantastic job raising over <strong><em>\u00a3400<\/em><\/strong> at The Macmillan Coffee Morning last Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The sun shone for the junior cross country on Wednesday and the pupils all enjoyed taking part.<\/p>\n<p>Reception children smiled nicely for the photographer from the Lancaster Guardian, look out for the picture after half term.<\/p>\n<p>The sun certainly didn\u2019t shine for the juniors to explore the River Wenning, but they have gone and we are sure they will see plenty of water!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Individual and Family Photos.\u00a0 <\/strong>Hopefully everyone has had chance to view the photos taken by Tiny Pixels last week.\u00a0 We have been informed that the last day to order photos is <strong><em>Sunday 13<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Walk to School.\u00a0 <\/strong>The first Walk to School this year is planned for <strong><em>Friday 11<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Staff will meet children in the car park opposite the Institute at <strong><em>8:20am<\/em><\/strong> and then everyone will walk up to school together.\u00a0 Please take care when driving into the car park and dropping the children off.\u00a0 We will need a couple of parents to walk with us as well.\u00a0 Please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter if your child(ren) will be taking part, all walkers will be rewarded with an extra breakfast when they arrive at school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Infant Forest School Visit.\u00a0 <\/strong>All the infant children are off for their first Forest School Adventure of this year on <strong><em>Monday 14<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/em><\/strong>!\u00a0 They will visit the wooded area at Leck School and engage in activities with the Infant children from Leck.\u00a0 A detailed information sheet will be included in their Friday bag next week, they will need a packed lunch on the day and waterproofs as the ground can be damp even if it\u2019s not raining. <strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Parent Meetings.\u00a0 <\/strong>Teaching staff will be available from <strong><em>2:30 to 7pm on Tuesday 15<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/em><\/strong> for parents to come and look at children\u2019s work and talk informally with teachers.\u00a0 Should you require a 5 minute 1:1 appointment please indicate on the slip at the end of the newsletter, giving your preferred time slot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior Lunch Time Clubs.\u00a0 <\/strong>Mrs Cottam will be running a lunch time Cookery Club on Wednesdays for pupils in years 5 &amp; 6 after half term, a slip is included at the end of the newsletter for you to sign up.\u00a0 Mrs Cook will offer a drop in Games Club for years 3 &amp; 4 on Friday lunch time, no need to sign up!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dates for this half-term:-<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Friday 11<sup>th<\/sup> Oct \u2013 Walk to School<\/li>\n<li>Monday 14<sup>th<\/sup> Oct \u2013 Infants Forest School<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday 15<sup>th<\/sup> Oct \u2013 Parents Meetings<\/li>\n<li>Thursday 17<sup>th<\/sup> Oct \u2013 School Council Training at Arkholme<\/li>\n<li>Friday 18<sup>th<\/sup> Oct \u2013 Teacher Training Day<\/li>\n<li>Monday 28<sup>th<\/sup> Oct \u2013Back to school after half-term holiday<\/li>\n<li>Friday 1<sup>st<\/sup> Nov \u2013 Flu Nasal Sprays<\/li>\n<li>Friday 1<sup>st<\/sup> Nov \u2013 Mad Science Club 3:30-4:30pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The PTA did a fantastic job raising over \u00a3400 at The Macmillan Coffee Morning last Friday.
