What a busy week we have had!\u00a0 Juniors had a lovely day on Monday at the Big Sing and infants enjoyed a forest school day outside at Leck.<\/p>\n

The Shakespeare Day for upper juniors on Tuesday was a great success and the whole school enjoyed a picnic outside at lunchtime.<\/p>\n

We were a little caught out by the sun on Wednesday, parents need to remember to apply sun cream prior to school if the event is outdoors and provide children with a sunhat and sun cream to apply themselves.\u00a0 School will encourage pupils to use them.<\/p>\n

Upper juniors have also enjoyed the Cluster Rounders\u2019 Tournament that is taking place as I write this newsletter!<\/p>\n

New Starters<\/strong><\/p>\n

The new reception children starting with us in September will be visiting school for the first time on Monday 24th<\/sup> June<\/em><\/strong> in the morning.\u00a0 Year 2 pupils will also move up to Mrs Cook\u2019s class on this morning to get a taste of life in the juniors!\u00a0 Similar visits will also take place on Friday 5th<\/sup> July<\/em><\/strong> and Wednesday 10th<\/sup> July<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Year 6 pupils also visit their chosen secondary schools next week, dates and times will have been sent direct to parents.<\/p>\n

Year 6 Leavers Do<\/strong> \u2013 Monday 24th<\/sup> June.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Staff will meet the year 6 pupils at Soul Bowl in Morecambe at 4:30pm<\/em><\/strong> on Monday 24th<\/sup> June<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Parents are asked to pick them up at 6:15pm<\/em><\/strong>, take care with parking as we believe the car park has cameras that record visits that are not paid for!<\/p>\n

Mother\u2019s Union Deanery Festival<\/strong><\/p>\n

Junior pupils will be going over to St Margaret\u2019s Church on Wednesday 26th<\/sup> June<\/em><\/strong> at 2pm<\/em><\/strong> to join the service celebrating Inspirational Women.\u00a0 An information sheet is included in their bag today.\u00a0 Some of the upper junior pupils will be talking about the visits we had earlier in the month. Parents, grandparents and friends are welcome to join the service.<\/p>\n

Garden Club <\/strong>will run this Wednesday 26th<\/sup> June.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Heaves Farm Open Day<\/strong> \u2013 Thurs 27th<\/sup> June<\/strong><\/p>\n

Westmorland County Agricultural Society are running a farm open day at Heaves Farm in Levens on Thursday 27th<\/sup> June<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 All junior pupils will be going for the day.\u00a0 Both the activities and the transport are funded by Westmorland, so it is an excellent opportunity for our pupils to experience life on a working farm, to ask questions and also to \u2018have a go\u2019!\u00a0 As it is a full day trip all junior pupils will require a packed lunch.\u00a0 They will also need appropriate outdoor clothing and must wear their school jumpers, so they can be easily identified.\u00a0 An information sheet giving further details is included in their bag today.<\/p>\n

Whole School Trip<\/strong> \u2013 Tuesday 9th<\/sup> July.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Both infant and junior classes have been exploring different forms of journeys recently; so the end of year trip will include several forms of transport.\u00a0 We will travel by coach to the Haverthwaite Railway, where we will board a train for Lakeside, then we will travel across the lake on the Windermere Steamer to Bowness for lunch. In the afternoon we will travel to Brockhole by boat to meet up with the coach again for the journey back to Hornby!\u00a0 \u00a0A trip like this is expensive, so we are very grateful to the PTA who have kindly agreed to fund the coach for this trip.\u00a0 Events such as today\u2019s PTA Summer Fair raise money which allows them to help finance special events for all children in school.\u00a0 Please do<\/em><\/strong> support tonight\u2019s Fair and all other events that the school\u2019s PTA work hard to organise for your children\u2019s benefit.<\/p>\n

As a result of the PTA\u2019s donation we are only asking for \u00a38.50<\/em><\/strong> per child towards this trip, which covers the train and boat trips.\u00a0 Please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter giving permission for the trip and return it to school in the bag on Monday together with payment please.<\/p>\n
