{"id":2764,"date":"2019-05-03T13:16:57","date_gmt":"2019-05-03T13:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/?p=2764"},"modified":"2019-05-03T13:16:57","modified_gmt":"2019-05-03T13:16:57","slug":"3rd-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/index.php\/2019\/05\/03\/3rd-may\/","title":{"rendered":"3rd May"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The sun shone for the annual walk to Wray Scarecrow Festival; thank you to the parents who accompanied the children, it is always good to see the displays and appreciate the effort that the community makes.<\/p>\n<p>The next couple of weeks are relatively quiet in school leading up to SATS week starting on <strong><em>Monday 13<sup>th<\/sup> May<\/em><\/strong> for year 6 children.\u00a0 Please encourage your child not to worry about these.\u00a0 They do need to be at school to try their best and that is always good enough.<\/p>\n<p>Please remember there is no school on <strong><em>Monday, it\u2019s May Day!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior Reading Challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mrs Cottam plans to put up the reading challenge display next week, if anyone has any more photos please email them into school early next week using this email <a href=\"mailto:bursar@hornby.lancs.sch.uk\">bursar@hornby.lancs.sch.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior Cycling Club<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jill Eccleston\u2019s Cycling Club will start on <strong><em>Monday 3<sup>rd<\/sup> June<\/em><\/strong> (the first day back after half-term). It will run for <strong><em>6<\/em><\/strong> weeks, with the final session being on <strong><em>Monday 8<sup>th<\/sup> July<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Pupils wishing to take part will need to bring their bike and a helmet into school each Monday; the bike needs to be in good working condition, further details will be sent to parents whose children \u00a0sign up for the club.\u00a0 The cost for the club will be \u00a330 per pupil, please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter and return it along with the payment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>School Meals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The total cost for school meals this half-term is \u00a352.90; 23 days at \u00a32.30 per day.\u00a0 Please keep the outstanding balance to a maximum of 2 weeks.\u00a0 Paper bills are included in some Friday Bags today for families who prefer not to pay online.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Early Morning Club<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is now possible to pay for Early Morning Club using the online system.\u00a0 Money owing from before the Easter Holidays will still need to be paid by either cash or cheque; details of these debts are included in the Friday bag today.\u00a0 Infant parents will receive a text message giving them access to the online system, it will still be possible to pay on the day or in bulk by cash or cheques, whatever is simplest for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>PTA Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There will be a PTA meeting this <strong><em>Tuesday, 7<sup>th<\/sup> May<\/em><\/strong>, at <strong><em>8:30pm<\/em><\/strong> at 26 Station Road, Hornby (Michelle Norris\u2019s house). \u00a0We will be reviewing Race Night and planning events for this term, an agenda will be available on our Facebook page.
