{"id":2753,"date":"2019-03-29T15:17:58","date_gmt":"2019-03-29T15:17:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/?p=2753"},"modified":"2019-03-29T15:17:58","modified_gmt":"2019-03-29T15:17:58","slug":"29th-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/index.php\/2019\/03\/29\/29th-march\/","title":{"rendered":"29th March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The PTA Race Night last Friday was a great success; everyone who came thoroughly enjoyed it.\u00a0 It raised approximately \u00a3400 for school funds.\u00a0 Thank you to everyone who supported the event either in the planning or on the evening and to everyone who came along.\u00a0 PTA hope to make it an annual event!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We hope that parents enjoyed listening to the Lune Valley Schools Choir performance last Friday.\u00a0 The aim is to set up a Choir in the valley for any children interested, keep an eye out for details in future newsletters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Upper junior pupils have had a very busy week.\u00a0 They all went climbing in Hutton Roof on either Monday or Tuesday, the weather was great and they had a full day outside appreciating the beautiful part of the country we are lucky enough to live in.\u00a0 Seven upper juniors also attended the Rugby Tournament at Wray School on Wednesday and came away with the winning trophy! Well Done. The After School Club run by Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club has obviously been a success.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Easter Activity Day<\/strong> <strong>&amp; Cake Sale<\/strong>. \u00a0Staff are busy planning an afternoon of Easter Activities for next <strong><em>Tuesday 2<sup>nd<\/sup> April<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Student Council will also be holding a Cake Sale at the end of the day. Any donations of cakes would be very welcome. Children can bring in a \u00a31 to buy cakes, proceeds will go to this year\u2019s charity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travelling Science Day<\/strong>.\u00a0 PTA are funding a Science Day next <strong><em>Friday 5<sup>th<\/sup> April<\/em><\/strong>; it should be a lovely, fun way to finish the term! \u00a0Adrian Bowden, a former Key Stage 2 classroom teacher who has also taught science at secondary school, will lead a session with the infants in the morning and one with the juniors in the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Praise Assembly.<\/strong>\u00a0 We will not be holding an assembly next <strong><em>Friday 5<sup>th<\/sup> April<\/em><\/strong>; as we have the Travelling Science Day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reception Sight Test. <\/strong>The School Nurses will be carrying out sight tests with reception children on <strong><em>Tuesday 23<sup>rd<\/sup> April<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior After-School Kwik Cricket Club.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This club will start after school on <strong><em>Friday 26<sup>th<\/sup> April<\/em><\/strong> and will run from <strong>3<em>:30 to 4:30pm<\/em><\/strong> for 5 weeks.\u00a0 It will be run by Steve Pemberton, a professional Lancashire Cricket Coach and will cost \u00a32 per session, so \u00a310 in total.\u00a0 Please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter if your child\/ren wish to take part.<\/p>\n<p>The coach will also run a free session for children in years 1 &amp; 2 between 2:15 and 2:45pm on these 5 Fridays too.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 3\/4 Cross Stitch Club.\u00a0 <\/strong>Mrs Rosie has kindly offered to run an after school cross stitch club on a Monday for pupils in years 3 and 4.\u00a0 The club will run from <strong><em>3:30 to 4:30pm<\/em><\/strong>, starting on <strong><em>Monday 29<sup>th<\/sup> April<\/em><\/strong>. Please complete the slip at the end of today\u2019s newsletter if your child would like to take part.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior Swimming <\/strong>has now finished.\u00a0 After Easter it will be replaced by PE sessions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dinner Money.\u00a0 <\/strong>There are still some fairly large outstanding amounts.
