{"id":2716,"date":"2019-02-08T14:52:23","date_gmt":"2019-02-08T14:52:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/?p=2716"},"modified":"2019-02-08T14:52:23","modified_gmt":"2019-02-08T14:52:23","slug":"8th-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/index.php\/2019\/02\/08\/8th-february\/","title":{"rendered":"8th February"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Infant parents will \u00a0have noticed that Mrs Hamlett is not currently in school.\u00a0 We are expecting her back after half-term.\u00a0 We are fortunate in school that Miss Allen is able to take the class assisted by Mrs Whitehead.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>An envelope was found on Tuesday morning close to school, with some money in it.\u00a0 If you think it might be yours, do come and talk to us.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior Football Event<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Didn\u2019t they do well!\u00a0 We are very proud of all the children who attended the football event at Arkholme.\u00a0 Years 3 and 4 enjoyed taking part and years 5 and 6 won their event with a penalty shootout!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>BBC Radio 2\u2019s 500 Words<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Year 5 &amp; 6 children are being encouraged to enter this year\u2019s BBC Radio 2\u2019s 500 words writing competition. \u00a0This is optional homework.\u00a0 We have included the rules in their homework files.\u00a0 Entries will be submitted by school so need to be typed up and returned to school by <strong><em>Tuesday 26<sup>th<\/sup> February<\/em><\/strong> please.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Clubs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Monday 11<sup>th<\/sup> February<\/em><\/strong> is the final session of Junior Fitness Club.\u00a0 To replace this Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club will be running a Junior Rugby club starting on <strong><em>Monday 25<sup>th<\/sup> February<\/em><\/strong> after school .\u00a0 The club will run from <strong><em>3:30pm to 4:30pm<\/em><\/strong>, the club will run for 6 weeks and cost \u00a32 per session, so \u00a312 in total. \u00a0Please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter if your child\/ren wish to take part, there is a limit of 15 pupils for the club, so forms need to be back on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>There will be sign-up sheets in juniors from Monday morning for the 2 lunch time clubs starting after half-term. Mrs Cook\u2019s Board Game Club on Friday is for pupils in years 3 &amp; 4. Mrs Cottam\u2019s Creative Writing Club on Wednesday will be open to any junior pupils. We may need to limit numbers, so it\u2019s important to remember to sign-up!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wray Scarecrow Festival Football Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pupils in years 4-6 are invited to take part in a football competition held over the weekend of Wray Fair, <strong><em>5<sup>th<\/sup> &amp; 6<sup>th<\/sup> May<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 An information sheet is included in their Friday bags today from the Scarecrow Committee giving details.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PTA Jumble Sale &amp; Race Night<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The date for the Spring Jumble Sale has been set for <em><strong>Saturday 2nd March at<\/strong><\/em> <em><strong>10am<\/strong><\/em>.
