{"id":2528,"date":"2018-10-05T13:08:33","date_gmt":"2018-10-05T13:08:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/?p=2528"},"modified":"2018-10-05T13:08:33","modified_gmt":"2018-10-05T13:08:33","slug":"5th-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/index.php\/2018\/10\/05\/5th-october\/","title":{"rendered":"5th October"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Macmillan Coffee Morning. <\/strong>PTA made a fantastic <strong><em>\u00a3450<\/em><\/strong> at the coffee morning last Friday, thank you to everyone who helped and supported it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Infant Trip to Hornby Castle.\u00a0 <\/strong>As part of our topic work this term we will be taking the infants on a trip to Hornby Castle on\u00a0<strong><em>Monday<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<strong>8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0October<\/strong><\/em> <strong>during the morning.\u00a0 An information sheet is included in their Friday bag today, they will be back in time for lunch.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Enrichment Morning. <\/strong>\u00a0Some children in years 4 to 6 are meeting at Hornby Institute with other children in the Lune Valley Cluster to take part in workshops for music, IT, Art and Dance.\u00a0 Information sheets are included in the Friday bag for the pupils taking part.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parent Meetings \u2013 Tuesday 9<sup>th<\/sup> October 3:30 \u2013 7:30pm.<\/strong>\u00a0 Lists of 1:1 appointments requested with teachers are up in the relevant cloakrooms, do pop in and check your time.\u00a0 Pupils books will be available to view at any point during the evening, should you wish to have a look at their work.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Walk to School.\u00a0 <\/strong>The first Walk to School this year is planned for <strong><em>Friday 12<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Staff will meet children in the car park opposite the Institute at <strong><em>8:20am<\/em><\/strong> and then everyone will walk up to school together.\u00a0 Please take care when driving into the car park and dropping the children off.\u00a0 \u00a0We will need a couple of parents to walk with us as well, please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter if your child(ren) will be taking part, all walkers will be rewarded with an extra breakfast when they arrive at school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>BookTrust.\u00a0 <\/strong>All reception children are bringing home a free gift pack from BookTrust today.\u00a0\u00a0 We hope you enjoy reading the book with your child.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Early Morning Club.\u00a0 <\/strong>Please can we remind parents that they need to bring their children into the classroom for Early Morning Club and make sure a member of staff signs them into the book.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior Dinner Money.\u00a0 <\/strong>Thank you to parents who have made payments for school meals.\u00a0 Junior meals now cost <strong><em>\u00a32.30 per day, \u00a311.50 per week<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Text reminders have been sent today to parents with outstanding balances, If you log onto <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eduspot.co.uk\">www.eduspot.co.uk<\/a> you will be able to view your child\u2019s account and make the necessary payment.\u00a0 It is also possible to add money to cover lunches still to be taken.\u00a0 Paper bills are included in some Friday bags for families who prefer to send cash or cheques into school, should anyone else like to pay this way or have a query regarding the online system please talk to Mrs Sharpe.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>School Photographs.\u00a0 <\/strong>The final date for receipt of photograph orders is <strong><em>Friday 12<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/em><\/strong>, orders placed after this date will attract a \u00a34 late order fee!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PTA Meeting.<\/strong>\u00a0 There will be a PTA planning meeting on <strong><em>Thursday 11th October at 7:30pm<\/em><\/strong> at The Fenwick, Claughton. We will be planning our fundraising and activities for the coming year and would love to hear your ideas and thoughts. We have a few people who are moving on at the end of this year who have been very active in supporting the PTA and it would be great to welcome some new faces who would be keen on getting involved in some way. You don\u2019t have to commit to attending every meeting or helping at every event, the more people that get involved, the less we each have to do individually.
