{"id":2028,"date":"2017-10-06T13:38:24","date_gmt":"2017-10-06T13:38:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/?p=2028"},"modified":"2017-10-06T13:38:24","modified_gmt":"2017-10-06T13:38:24","slug":"6th-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hornby.lancs.sch.uk\/index.php\/2017\/10\/06\/6th-october\/","title":{"rendered":"6th October"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Macmillan Coffee Morning. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Didn\u2019t the PTA do well raising a fantastic <strong><em>\u00a3531<\/em><\/strong> for Macmillan Cancer Care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>School Photographs. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All orders either online or through school need to be received by <strong><em>Friday 13<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parents\u2019 Evening.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Staff are looking forward to the opportunity to talk to parents on <strong><em>Monday 9<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 The School Nurse will also be available between <strong><em>3.30<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>4.30pm<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior Visit to Lancaster Maritime Museum.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thank you to everyone who has returned the slip and money for the trip next <strong><em>Friday, 13<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Please could all outstanding slips be returned on Monday.\u00a0 All juniors will need a packed lunch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reception New Starters Photograph. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Lancaster Guardian\/Morecambe Visitor came into school last week to take a group photo of the reception children.\u00a0 Enclosed in their Friday bag today is a proof\/order form for the photograph that will appear in the paper late October or early November, there is also a mounted original on display near the infant classroom.\u00a0\u00a0 If you wish to place an order, please return the form to the school office and we will organise to forward them all on.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior Residential. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We plan to take all the junior children on a residential visit to Arnside from <strong><em>Monday 2<sup>nd<\/sup> June to Wednesday 4<sup>th<\/sup> June 2018<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 There is a letter from Mr Stafford-Roberts regarding this trip in all the junior children\u2019s Friday bags today.\u00a0 Please do respond as soon as possible so we can make the necessary arrangements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Virtues for my Soul. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our Christian Value has now moved on to <strong><em>Wisdom<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Included in the Friday bag today is a certificate for you to complete when your child\/ren demonstrates this attribute at home.\u00a0 For our new families, the last school inspection noted that we should develop the school environment to reflect our Christian nature and with this in mind we now focus on a specific Christian value, as seen in our stained glass windows.\u00a0 Each week one child per class will receive a certificate during assembly for demonstrating the value in school and we ask for your help to recognise the value at home too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PTA Tea Towel. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year all children have drawn a self-portrait which will be printed onto a whole-school tea-towel with the school logo and calendar year.\u00a0 The tea towel can be purchased for friends and family and is a wonderful gift and stocking filler.\u00a0 The cost of the tea towel will be \u00a33.50 and we would be grateful if you could indicate how many tea-towels you wish to purchase, no money is required yet.\u00a0 Please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Harvest Craft Afternoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are supporting the Bishop\u2019s Harvest Appeal 2017 by having a craft afternoon on <strong><em>Tuesday 10<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/em><\/strong> for all pupils. Please could the children come to school dressed in Autumnal colours and we will be collecting money for \u2018Tree Aid\u2019.
