Physical Education<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
In addition to our high-quality PE lessons, our children are invited to take part in competitions and clubs, sparking a love for physical education and sports. We also where possible, provide opportunities for our children to engage in a wider range of outdoor activities including sailing and caving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Educational Visits and Residentials<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
School trips and visits are an integral part of the education of children at Hornby St Margaret’s. Class visits are aimed at bringing learning alive and providing first-hand experience. We also take part in many extra-curricular outings such as \u201cThe Big Sing\u201d and a variety of sporting events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Children in Years 4, 5 and 6 take part in residential visits. These are planned to provide new and exciting experiences. We aim to provide children with either a city visit (Edinburgh) or a rural experience (Brathay).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Visitors into School<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
We welcome visitors into school to deliver talks and workshops across a wide range of subjects, giving pupils access to outside experiences and expertise. Visitors provide a link with the wider community.<\/p>\n
This year we have had a range of visitors including Sportsreach, the Fire Brigade, NISCU, \u00a0Lancaster Soroptmist, Judo Education and a local Ceiledh band.<\/p>\n
We have been working with Alex and Olivia from the Westminster Foundation offering a unique and valuable experience, fostering engagement, promoting social skills, and connecting children with nature. We acted as hosts for a community event where we were joined by two other local schools with children engaging in activities including making a nature book mark, bulb planting and apple pressing.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Charity <\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Children at Hornby St Margaret’s are actively involved in charity work and fundraising for various local, national and international charities. \u00a0We hold annual events to raise funds for nominated charities: Royal British Legion, Elf Run in aid of St John’s Hospice and Children in Need.<\/p>\n
We have donated reading books to Timboni School in Kenya.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
