Lancaster Music Festival – Juniors

The junior children are looking forward to performing at the Music Festival on Wednesday 21st March.  They will all be going in the morning to rehearse, an information sheet giving further details is in their Friday bag today.  We are pleased that we have been able to accommodate all the ticket requests for the evening performance and have included them in the bag today.  Please send in outstanding payments, made payable to Hornby CE Primary School.  The tickets cost £4 each and we have been advised that any children in the audience need their own ticket.  The children need to meet at Lancaster Town Hall by 6:45pm, where Mrs Cook will be waiting for them, please drop them off at their seat (children will know where this is) rather than in the foyer and collect at the end from there too, it is always very busy.  Many thanks for your support with this event.

Wednesday 21st March is the final swimming session for this academic year.  The children will be playing games, so no pyjamas needed!

Easter Church Service

In the Wednesday morning school assemblies this half-term, the Vicar has been teaching the children about Holy Communion. Children in the Juniors, who have been baptised (christened), are being invited to receive Holy Communion, if they wish, when the school goes over to church for this term’s Wednesday morning church service, which is in Holy Week, on Wednesday 28th March. If you are happy for your child to receive Holy Communion, please return the slip at the end of the newsletter. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Vicar directly as vicar@these4parishes.co.uk or on 21712.  As always parents, grandparents and friends are very welcome to join us at this service, which starts at 10am.

Golf Club

My name is Nick Barron and for the last few weeks/months I have been teaching your children golf in after school club.  I hope they have had as much fun as I have had coaching them!

To follow on from these sessions I just thought I would keep you informed of a couple of options for your child should they wish to continue playing golf through the summer.  Every Tuesday night from 4pm I host Junior Coaching sessions at Bentham Golf Club which are open to anyone and everyone whether they are a member of the golf club or not.  They do not need to have played golf.  There are a number of sessions for all ages and abilities split into groups depending on this and run every 45 minutes up until 7pm.  The first of these sessions will start on Tuesday 3rd April. The cost for these sessions is just £30 for 10 weeks.

Following on from that, every first Tuesday in the month starting from May there will be a ‘Texas Scramble’ competition night.  These nights are aimed at giving the kids a little more experience playing in competitions/matches.  The juniors are sent out in groups of 3 also with one/two golfing adults, parents and grandparents are actively encouraged, to help with rules & etiquette of golf.  These nights are great fun and the kids love them.  To take part in the Texas Scramble nights your child has to be a member of the golf club due to them playing on the golf course, memberships start from just £15 for the year so it is pretty cheap.

If this sounds like fun for your child then please get in touch with me on the details below or bob into the Pro shop at Bentham Golf Club for a chat.

Thanks,

Nick Barron

Dates

Easter Service Holy Communion

I am happy for [child’s name] ___________ to receive Holy Communion.

Place and approximate date of baptism ___________

OR I would like to arrange a baptism [tick]

Holy Communion is received as a piece of wheat-based wafer-bread and a sip of wine.

Please advise your child directly if you would prefer for the wafer to be dipped in the wine, rather than a sip of wine being taken, or if you prefer for Holy Communion to be taken as bread only, without wine.
